This explains all the emails I've been getting with people requesting Finally shipped with a 12AU7 Last time he mentioned Finally in a video I sold like 6 of them in a day. Guess I should stock back up on transformers.

I should probably send him something too. He reached out to me on instagram before purchasing (he paid full price, didn't even ask for a discount) and we chatted for a minute, he seems like a nice dude.

I'm using the 6SL7 tube on this one, so unfortunately there's absolutely no way to fit it in a 125B. It will be going in a 1590BBS, which is the same length and width as a 1590BB (Dr. Wattson, JC Emerald, etc.) but as tall as a 125B (UA, Slampegg, More, etc).

On that note I revised the board layout last night and will be ordering prototype boards shortly. I was BARELY able to squeeze in the Lightning Boy D.I. output, but it's something I decided I wanted. I was originally planning to put in a 1x15" IR-based cabsim for the full fliptop-in-a-box, but it was turning into a huge pain and would have pushed the price beyond what I wanted it to be. So I instead opted for a switchable fixed HPF, like @Mayo Fan mentioned.

Also something a bit unusual for me, I took out the footswitch because there wasn't really a way for me to make it fit. So as-designed right now, my v1.1 prototype controls will be:

• Gain - obviously; 6SL7 instead of 12AX7 so it won't have as much drive as Slampegg Bee Pre, but it will be able to get some nice Ampegg-y grind
• Volume - again obvious, but trying something different on this one. The volume knob will only affect the 1/4" output, and there will be a separate internal trimpot to set the level of the XLR output. This is something I've had people ask about, independent level controls so you can turn up/down the volume to your amp without affecting the FOH level
• Bass/Treble - same James stack as used in Slampegg Bee Pre and Lab Rat. Both controls are boost/cut, both knobs at 12:00 is "flat"
• HPF (toggle) - rolls off 6dB per octave below 90Hz, similar to the Noble's rolloff switch
• Dry Pass/Pre Out (toggle) - like the switch on the Finally, gives you the option of the 1/4" output being a dry passthrough or a preamp-affected out
• Ground Lift (toggle) - grounds or decouples pin 1 of the XLR output to reduce ground loop noise on the balanced line

You've just described the preamp of my dreams... Just when I've emptied my gear fund on a new bass.

In the interest of keeping the number of different products I have to support low, I could potentially offer it as an option in a custom shop build. It would use the same circuit board in the same enclosure (the tube takes up more room than the D.I.) but I would leave out the D.I.-related stuff and leave out some of the holes when milling the enclosure, then adjust the price accordingly.

Yup this is Grand Slampegg. I still don't have the architecture of Furthermore 100% nailed down, but for now it's just 12AU7+12AT7 like More, 4-band inductor-based EQ with switchable frequency for both mid bands. I plan to add a variable HPF and variable LPF, then I think I promised people a headphone out as well. Obviously Lightning Boy magnetics based D.I. will be in there, but the current prototype hasn't even gotten that far yet.

So as you're all aware my to-develop list is a mile long and growing all the time, but right now the order is sitting at:

1. Grand Slampegg - v1.1 prototype boards on order with updates outlined above; ETA is early september
2. Furthermore - base preamp from four months ago is solid and I really like it; next step is adding the HPF/LPF, then working out a headphone amp; adding the D.I. obviously isn't hard; ETA is I have no idea
3. SBVT II - @FronTowardEnemy liked the v0 prototype enough that I'm not planning drastic changes, but the enclosure raises a question; it has 3 tubes so it has to be big (same size as Detective, Dreamcatcher, Venus X), but the circuit isn't wildly complicated so I have enough spare room to squeeze in a D.I. if I want; do I just start adding D.I. to everything?

IMHO when size allows but offer the option to delete the DI and associated complexities of IR and HPF/LPF filters for those that do not want or need those features.

My feeling about all in one boxes is well known, tldr they all have shortcomings no matter how well designed or intended.

Very valid. Sushi is an interesting phenomena in that the devoted have multiples of these pedals on one board. In that context it does not make sense. However I'm thinking of the "average player" and how they might utilize a Sushi Box pedal, I bet many of them would only own one and those that know what's up would probably use it as a One-Pedal-To-Rule-Them-All context if it had a DI. Sort of a realistic and reasonable Noble alternative (if I might be so bold).

I say this in the context of the type of bass player that shows up to a gig with two pedals... one is a tuner and the other is a DI.
