Hello Sushi heads, hope all is well. Question here. If I use the Finally's Out with the Pre toggle to the bottom without using the DI out, am I essentially using a Space Heater?

I've been rehearsing with a band and want some mostly clean tube warmth (have also tried and enjoyed the Particle Accelerator mini) and wanted to try different flavors. Thanks all!

Hi everyone, has anyone ever tried to change the tubes on the MORE and managed to obtain satisfactory results? I noticed that it emphasizes certain medium-high frequencies giving more "air" to the sound but at the same time it is as if with the current Tubes it loses very low frequencies (a sort of HPF effect) and medium frequencies (between 400/500 Hz). I would like to give it one last try, a very well made pedal, but at the moment it isn't giving me that MORE that I was looking for, maybe by changing Tubes I can find a different solution, not necessarily better, but exclusively better for me. Advice?

Did my first ampless gig with my Finally V1 this past weekend. My entire rig consisted of 76 PBass with flats - EMG GZR pickup > Sonic Research Turbo Tuner > Finally DI. Super simple. It was a second floor ski resort gig with no elevator, only stairs, so packing light was essential.

This was a fill-in gig and, despite the band leader refusing to re-EQ the board settings he uses for his regular bass player, by all accounts it sounded killer in the room.

I've never owned two of the same pedal at the same time, but I just ordered a V2 Finally DI to put on my effects board. I'm using an H9 and Source C4, so the Finally should be nice to warm it all up and the HPF and XLR level control will certainly come in handy.

Nice! That is ridiculously similar to my primary minimalist setup too... Aerodyne Bass with Fender 9050 flats - EMG GZR P/J pickups > StroboStomp tuner > Finally DI with a vintage 5751 tube

kinda curious about how different the finally v2 sounds compared to the v1. i already have 2 HW v1s which perform beautifully but as we all know about the quest for toan and disposable income....

anyone have any firsthand comparison experience to chime in?

The inherent preamp circuit is the same, the only difference there being the switchable HPF on the v2. The transformer sounds a little different, but it's still going to be subtle. Functionally, v2 has a separate volume control for XLR which is something people had been requesting for a while. I really like v2 and I'm proud of it, but I've always been proud of v1 as well. Tonally you're not changing a lot from v1 to v2. The v2 does not make the v1 obsolete.

I'm planning to order a finally shortly, and was intending to order a preamp pedal at the same time (I'm in the UK so might as well take the shipping and potential customs hit all in one go). I was thinking the UA might be the ideal choice for me, but wasn't sure if it's going to be too similar tonally to the finally but with added eq?

For reference my plan is to use this one a small board, and then use it as the second side of of stereo/wet dry setup, opposite an Arkham oracle.
I have a couple of other eq/preamps that I like using, including a tech 21 q strip and a barber linden, so I don't know if I'd be gaining anything significantly different to using either of those into the finally.

Finally is pretty much a UA without the eq, but with an XLR DI and HPF. That said, stacking a UA in tandem with it would certainly sound great and greatly expand the tonal options.

Biased answer: buy one of everything, surely you'll find a use for them.

Slightly less-biased answer: UA paired with a Finally is a common setup that I see, but frankly Slampegg with a Finally and Elementary with a Finally are becoming just as common. Finally just works well with other preamps.

If you're looking for an older classic tone, you can't go wrong with the Slampegg. The Elementary is much more transparent. I haven't used a UA yet, but I have used a Space Heater which is similar (minus the EQ), and I have found that to be the most transparent, tone-wise. Others will certainly chime in on this, but that's what my ears are telling me

I have the UA, Slampegg, and Elementary and I like them all, but I think the UA is a great place to start.

I didn’t like the Slampegg (sorry, not my tone) but the Elementary into the Finally works great for me and an active Jazz bass.

To my ear and needs the UA into a Finally is a stellar match for live or recording. I do have other preamps I use for recording but both my live boards have a UA. Why do I have other preamps, to have access to different colors and vibes; Particle Accelerator mini, Slampegg B Mini, BassDude, JC Emerald, MORE each have their own sound and I have a UA with a JJ 12ax7MG that I love for fretless and jazz guitar tones.
