The TalkBass String Comparison Sound Clip Thread!

Which rotos dude?
Which Rotos? C'mon man! ;)
Swing Bass 66LD 's the classic British steel! 45-105. :) My usual favourite but I've been trying out so many different brands I'm hoping I still love them? ;)
I listened to my clip with the Dunlop Super Bright Steels and realized how close those sound to Rotos? The last string I tried that reminded me of that grittiy hi-mid Roto presence were DR Fatbeams. I'll have to try those out again at some point.
Cheerio,
Brent

Well there's other roto strings :) I might try them again at some point, I could order single sets but would be expensive

Hey guys, today we have La Bella Nickel Plated vs Dunlop Nickel vs Rotosound Nickel, as I think these La Bella sound the more similar to these two.

The have a nice feeling to them, and quite a grind to them. A little bit more punchier than the rotos, but not as much mids as the dunlops in my opinion. I'd still use them though :)

As an additional treat, I've recorded pick and slap style playing, flat EQ of course. Lets see if the La Bellas live up to their former label 'slappers'

10 strings to compare in total now

I'm liking them too man, they also have black silks :)
Ages ago I ordered a 3 pack of Labella strings from Sam Ash. I think it was $25 or $29? it included a set of Hard Rockin' Steels (Now Stainless Rounds), Slappers ( Now the aforementioned Nickels) and Super Steps. I can't remember for the life of me if I liked them or not? I think the Hard Rockin' steels had some crunchy mids going on like Rotos. I'm going to check out @rob_thebassman clips again for a refresher. I do remember I tried out all of the sets on the Iron Maiden P-Bass ('arry's first signature bass, which I didn't like that much? Even though I scoured the entire country for it!)

and vaguely remember transferring the Hard Rockin' Steels to my Geddy Lee Jazz. I remember the black silk.
I still like the Labella Rx's I have on and might put them on my Cirrus. I ran into an order snafu this weekend. I didn't realize that my order for my Auroras had been cancelled so I had to order from another store. I'm really going to give them another chance due to the $$$.
Best wishes all,
Brent
