I was recently watching the Lemmy/Motörhead tribute at Wacken & there were a whole bunch of people crying & some were physically shaking.

Sure there will be some crying when Steve goes, but I really don't think it will be as widely spread.

This happens when any famous person dies. This happens when serial killers die. It doesn't prove anything. There is always someone ridiculous enough to cry and shake over some "famous" person they've never met passing on. I'm sure you were a mess when your hero died. I'm sorry for that, but get over it man. It's embarrassing, even if you don't see it. And it comes off as a troll just trolling. Just cause you don't realize you're trolling doesn't mean you aren't still doing it.
This is literally the dumbest thread I've ever read on TB. I'm ashamed of myself for even reading or responding to it. Dude you need to get over this childish hero worship. He was a bass player, not someone who ran into a burning building to save little kids or something. I love Waters and McCartney, but i won't shed a single tear when they go. Because i don't really know them. Get it? You're just addicted to arguing with people and Lemmy is your jumping off point. It's really kind of sad. I feel bad for you.
I understand we all have our favorites, but few of us here feel the need to crowbar them into nearly EVERY post we make. Let it go man, Jesus.

I met Lemmy a lot of times.
At clubs we used to go to, he bought me pint once just after he'd watched me throw up in the bog.
At the hotel I used to work: I had to go to his room to get the porn channels working. Often.
First time he stayed in the hotel he said: "I haven't got any cash for a tip so I'll tell you a joke".
Worst joke I'd ever heard, unprintable on here.
I was going to invite him to my place one Christmas for Christmas dinner but the pub across the road from the hotel invited him first.
I didn't cry when he died, just felt sad that a cool bloke wasn't here anymore.
And he was a proper gent.

I find this very tasteless to compare the amount of people crying at people's deaths. It doesn't matter, and to be blatantly honest it's morbid and offensive.

The simple fact that you even brought the subject up is just wrong. It reminds me of the whole "my dad is bigger than your dad" playground debate. Death and mourning is not a pi$$ing contest.
I never met Lemmy, I've never met Steve. I'm not going to shed a tear when he or anyone I don't know dies. I'm not that kind of person. Some people are that way and that is their right to have those emotions.
But, in a bass guitar forum and a seven month old thread that in hindsight is a pretty pointless topic of debate, comparing the widespread amount of crying and shaking of someone who hasn't even died to someone who did die is morbid, tasteless and really doesn't support your opinion of Lemmy's reverence.
Please let this thread die as I am not replying to it anymore.

You know, when Chris Squire passed, I was extremely upset. I was in a dark mood for months. He was my hero growing up, and I've been listening to his recordings with Yes and his other projects for 45 years. So I feel your pain.

I'm not a big fan of metal as a genre, but I do have a few progressive metal albums which I listen to. I never heard a lot of Motorhead or Iron Maiden, so I really couldn't say much about the music.

I will say that I much prefer Lemmy's taste in basses. So much so, that I made myself a copy.

The signature Steve Harris bass? Not so much.

I don't mean "Who is your favorite?"
