I get a fresh, from scratch, home-made flour tortilla every Saturday morning with a bowl of green chile. IMHO, the Best breakfast around! Thick, soft, and warm off the grill, just perfect!

My favorite was a place called Rio Bravo, sort of a chain offshoot of the same company that owns Chevy's. Unfortunately they shut them all down, but it RULED Chevy's big time.
Fresh tortillas from the cooker machine, nice and doughy, with Chile Con Queso sauce... MMM Fookin MMM! I miss that. I ate that at least once a week. Top it off with a few Negra Modelos... Chevy's version is horrible, I won't even eat there.
Wrong choice on restaurants to close down ya bastids!
Oh, and what a ca-winky-dink, I was planning on cookin' some cheese quesadillas for dinner

I've made them from scratch a few times, and they were good. When I don't feel like spending half the day making them, I find the "Tia Rosa" brand from the store to be thick, fluffy, and yummy.

Sooo. Just got back from Mexico / San Diego.
Went to Rosarito. Got two fish tacos and a carne taco from this little taco restaurant. The lady was making the tortillas seconds before they became tacos. I could have eaten like 30 more, but was in polite company unfortunately. The next day, went to Taco Riendo. The same people still working there, had a carne asada, carnitas, and (pork) adobado taco. (They make the giant tacos). Good lord. Everything I ever remembered. Went to one other taco stand while I was there and had a mahi taco, but it was just sort of alright.

here in SE indiana, there is a dearth of decent mexican food, but...
there is one place in l'burg, el burrito loco, whut has a clue. their tortillas are real, the carnitas melt in yer piehole, and i've never had a bad meal there.
true, it prolly can't step up to the southeast, but...here in Git-R- Done-Land, it's a mecca.
the owners are from mexico, there is norten~o piped in, (i asked for los tigres del norte, and they played it, next song!), they are old world polite to everyone...and they carry most all the best mexican beers, which is tough around here.

The best Mexican food is in East Los Angeles. For plates and Burritos, El Tepeyac cannot be beat. For tacos, King Taco
is the best. Better than in Mexico. I'll make a 2 hour round trip drive for this stuff, it's that good. Nothing else even comes close.

My grandmother used to make the most amazing flour tortillas... My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I would literally sit and eat them as fast as she could make them. I can make them reasonably well, but mine can't touch the ones she made.
Hmmm, I may have to make some Mexican food tonight!

My wife's homemade tortillas are incredible. I wish she made them more often. She spoiled me; now most store brands taste like paper.
