I have a very good vocabulary and in this context poignant means "distressing to my feelings".

The same song has essentially been re-written a million times over to much fanfare and record sales. That is disheartening to me.

Okay, I wasn't sure that was what you meant. Laughing and crying at the same time may be a sign of mental illness. lol!;)

It's not really the same songs... IMHO, "Let It Be" isn't the same song as "Under a Bridge" at all. It just reminds me how many options there are in music, and how the same 4 chords can be used in a billion different ways.
