My conclusion after attending the San Francisco Auto Show last fall was that my next car will be a Honda Fit. I swear this car is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

I recently bought this car and I am very happy. I fold down the left half of the rear seat and put the bass on it's side, neck goes between the front seats. Still space left for the amp and 2 passengers. Great mileage, too.

97' vw passat tdi...sedan/wagon
burns on/off road diesel, home heating oil, used "fillturd" veggie oil, 51.333 mpg best so far. 460,000 mi. and counting.
3/4 flatback friendly.
+10 on the diesel thing. I have a 1983 Mercedes 300d turbo diesel with a conversion kit to run on strait waste vegetable oil I get for free from restaurants. I filter it, dump it in the tank and go. There are allot of those merc's out there, and they will go 500,000 miles no prob.
I feel the need to interject here that filtered waste vegetable oil is NOT the same as biodiesel (which can be made from waste vegetable oils via a chemical process). I have a diesel 07' VW Bug that runs perfectly on diesel and biodiesel (up to 100%) without a engine conversion kit. Biodiesel is available at many places across the country and costs about the same as regular diesel and gets the same MPG.
One thing, though. You can't run on 100% biodiesel in the winter because it will congeal in your gas tank/engine. Very ugly.
My VW bug is the perfect bass-mobile. There is plenty of room in the back when the rear seat is folded down.
In my "real" job, I work in the auto parts industry. Based on my experience, I will only buy Honda. Better reliability than Toyota during the last few years and most models have enough room for gear. In have put a GK410RBH, 115RBH and a 6 space rack in the back seat of my wife's Honda Accord.
