the ultimate stoner/doom/sludge/psychedelic effects thread!

i plan on overhauling my board, eventually replacing all of my pedals. as far as dirt goes, im looking at a thick fuzz, then an overdrive with a dry blend, followed by a fuzz with a dry blend. the bbm's blend doesnt do it justice for me, im looking for something that lets me add dry to my fuzz, rather than fuzz to the dry. so far, im considering the supercollider or devi ever hyperion as my first fuzz, the odb-3 or behringer bdi21 as my od, and my blendable fuzz has not yet been decided upon. id like to listen to grgryx's video of the attack goat, see how it sounds as i havent watched it yet. anybody else like to use a combination of blended overdrive AND fuzz, rather than just one pedal? i find thats how i get my favorite doom tones

Finally got my GT-10B nicely set up.

Got some tight low end killing EQ for no other reason that to be able to use my lunchbox channel to add it back in (and swell it when I get volume peds). Silly me having dirt that holds lows :scowl:

Got some blendable bass fuzz after the EQ killed stuff that really changes character depending on which killed thing is running. Adds some nice 4th channel stuff.

Set up the Pedal Bend to be just 1 oct up ALL THE TIME. Switchable via one of the CTL things. Adds some awesome spacialness to the fuzzes. Also replaces my need for an octave fuzz.

Set the chorus to be after the pitch and before the outboard fuzzes to get some interesting harmonicness from them. Slow, deep chorus -> fuzz is quite awesome with some fuzz.

Got me some reverb after everything to really expand out the sound. Make it WIDE.

Got me some nice flanger swooshingness.

Got me some nice "switchless" wah. Sexy.

Got me some delay that I can activate and control the repeat numbers with an expression pedal, as well as select between fwd and rev types with the other CTL switch.

All this in a patch called "GoatGodFleshWhor". Not enough space for the last "e" :(

I've also got a second patch bassed of the EZTone Metal/Powerchord guitar sim job. Its like death metal in a patch of data.

:bassist:

anybody have any expirience with the boss ps-5? i watched a few reviews on youtube, it seems like something cool that i could really use. ive been needing a better octave than the octasub mode on my synth wah, and i have a few riffs that would sound alot more psychedelic with a delay, but just sound a little dry as it is. with an expression pedal, does it control the pitch shift like the foot controller on the whammy?

it's a pretty good pedal, actually. I may even get one when I get more money and decide to start my other band (which will be a noise/rap/thrash/doom/industrial mash-up, but that's another thread...) and use it with my Micro Pog to make a organ-simulator.

A tube =/= tube head.

*Excluding Dopesmoker, which I've got to say has the end all be all of doom bass tones.

God you can say that again! First time I heard that song I had to make sure that some sort of ooze wasn't coming out of my headphones...

Return Trip is also absolutely SICK!!! It's a thick bass tone that just oozes onwards.

I can never seem to get that tone...:(
