Hey P. Bass,

Good call, I forgot to give you guys the gig report, the pics, and some sound clips! Fortunately I have all three, but unfortunately the last two are on my home computer so I'll just give you the gig report for now:

I've played it on probably 10-12 gigs since I bought it (basically every gig that I didn't play double bass on) plus a couple demos, and so far it's been a blast. I plug into a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0, and it's very easy to get a great sound out of it. Plus the sound to the board is always perfect! Initially, the first string was significantly quieter than the other four, but I just raised that side of the pickup and adjusted the saddle heights and now it's fine. I have gotten compliments from band mates about the bass's sound and have been spending much less time adjusting the tone knob than I did on other basses.

The biggest surprise about the bass is how light it is. I've been reading comments about lightweight basses here on TB for a while, but I never understood what the big difference was between say an eight pound bass like this one and the roughly ten pound Fender I've used since 2003. Well consider me converted!

I know some of you guys are probably wondering if I've put flats on it since I'm coming from playing TIs on a P-Bass. Surprisingly, I've stuck with the DR rounds that it came with and am loving them!

The only concern that I've had so far is that since I like to rest my thumb on the side of the pickup when I'm playing on the fifth string, I'm worried that eventually I'll wear out that exposed fabric material that surrounds the coils. If anybody has any experience with that and wants to share advice, please feel free!

I'm gigless tonight so I'll try my best to edit down some soundclips and get them and some better pics up.

I'll throw my hat in the ring. I prefer a p style body on a PJ set up. My reasoning is that a J is a J, back in the day guys didn't pull out the neck pickup on a J and replace it with a P pickup, I am sure some did. What they did do regularly was take their vintage P bass and ad a J style bridge pick up especially when the Jaco burp came into fashion.

No right or wrong just what looks good to my eye.

I agree here wholeheartedly, i am a J bass lover to the fullest, but have been pondering ordering a P/J and would order it with a P Body, to me it just looks better with a P body, but thats just me. And again i LOVE Jazz basses, but for a P/J that P Body just kills in looks.
