I'm about to send my deposit for my P5!

Rosewood w/ Blocks & Binding
Tortoise Guard
Cowcatcher
Nordstrand NP5 (run passive)
Hipshot Vintage Style Bridge

I'm beyond psyched!

been playing with photoshop all day to try and get a picture, but I'm just realizing how much I suck at it.

Well, I'm gonna get in a little early on this.
A lot of you guys already have seen it (some/most before me actually!)

Check it:

A little wipe with a damp cloth to bring out the grain-top pic (bottom pic is it just sitting there looking pretty):

And the finished body:

Neck is going to be birdseye maple with a pau ferro fingerboard.
Nordstrand pick-ups- MM5.3 and NJ5S. MM in the Stingray "sweet spot" and J in the typical neck position.
Sadowsky 2 band pre with VTC.
Black Hipshot Style B bridge and black HipShot Ultralights.

Nino, Thank You from the bottom of my heart for this.

Time to bring this thread back up to the top!

Here's my newly acquired Valenti with its fretless younger brother (restrung with TI flats) in front of my tiny rig o' doom.

Anyone got new Valenti pics? Any progress on orders?

Bass is looking GREAT btw Mike. I'd be my leg it's gonna sound ridiculous when it's finished.

Oh, it was you who bought DW's Geddy Valenti ! You came this -><- close to not buying it. Worked out for the best for both of us, as a deal I was hoping for instead came through for me.

That's actually Nino's personal Geddy Vee. DW's has the matching Black headstock.

On a sidenote, how do you like the Fretless with the new TI Flats? I've been using rounds on my Fretless cause I thought it was the tone I wanted, but I'm thinking of making the change to TI Flats. Mines stealth like yours :D

KayCee,
I love you man, but I think you lost your marbles for selling that bass. Awesome tone!!

Congrats on the new family member, Be!!

Also, congrats to FretlessFiverFan for his new Valenti!! Very sweet fingerboard! I bet it don't sound too shabby either!:bassist:

Funkybe, I'm glad that #023 has found a home. It's a great bass with a growling low end voice. I hope that you like the set up on it, as I spent some time with a gtr tech getting it just right.
(I'm assuming that Juan made no changes to the bass.)

Basso, Basso, Basso....:rollno:
Seriously, my financials just got a little pressing, and I stayed with the fretted bass that I was more comfortable with.
(OT: Isn't this weekend the Dallas guitar show?)

I still think that Nino does a great job, and I'd certainly recommend his work to anyone wanting a bass built. :bassist:

Well then, I can't rib you too much. Financial pressure makes all of us do sacrificial things. Hope you can hook up with Nino in the future.:)

The Arlington Guitar Show is this weekend. I'm planning on attending Sunday.

Very cool! Stealth basses rock:bassist:

The TI flats are pretty amazing. If i solo the neck p'up i can do a great upright imitation, solo the bridge and get a nice Mwahful jaco-like tone. And of course, everything inbetween;) They also feel SOOOOO slick under the fingers. Felt broken in right out of the box. My band jammed the herbie hancock/sting version of sister moon last week and i THINK we recorded it. I used the fretless in upright mode. I'll try and post it if i can get my hands on it.

The thing is a BEAST man. That NP5 is a monster pick-up with this wood combo! With my current rig, it wants to rock no matter what style of music i'm playing. I have to use a lot of technique to calm the roar down:o :D
