The Video Game Thread

RDR2 continues to hold up incredibly well. Rockstar has their work cut out for them with GTA6. I honestly don’t know how they’re going to land that game with all the hype surrounding it, not to mention the delays. RDR2 set the bar incredibly high, and I don’t know how GTA will manage.

I've been watching videos about Gran Turismo and getting the itch to play GT4 again. I used some Christmas money to buy an upscaler and got the old PS2 to work reasonably well yesterday. Already got the B-license and beat the Sunday Cup. Got a few other games out of storage too. Time for a trip down memory lane.
GT2 ruled my early 20’s. Had THE best game menu and manufacturer menu music. EVER!

GT2 was actually my first Gran Turismo, and I still have it. I might give it a spin, but GT4 is giving my brain more of the good nostalgia chemicals right now.
I played GT4 some, but never completed it. Maybe 50%? By that time other games had taken my interest. God Of War 1-2, Madden, Tiger Woods, Champions of Norath…

How I wish I had a still functioning PS2.

Right on.
A friend just got me a PS2 last week. I've been playing SSX Tricky and THPS4 along with the old Midway and Namco arcade games.
I went back and forth on a good driving/racing game and ended up on NFS Underground, but I do want to get a Gran Turismo game at some point. Is GT4 the one you'd recommend?

From what I can gather, the PS2 era is the favorite among fans, so GT3 or GT4. I personally never played GT3, so I'm biased towards 4. They have their pros and cons. According to some people, GT3 has a better career progression and physics model. GT4 has more cars and tracks and I personally love the menu design in the career mode. While I would push you towards 4 myself, I'd suggest doing some research to decide between the two, or just trying both if you have the means.
