and that bit on the upper body where the chamfer reveals the body wood just looks wrong. To me, the top isn't thick enough, it should go to the edge.
And the "join" on the bottom just looks gash as well.

Except that I think most of the time all of the excess layers really, really badly detract from the topwood, which is why I think the "midbody reveal" as you called it is often WAY excessively thick or contrasting. It draws the eye away from the nice wood.
...I anticipate a little bit of embarrasment on your part when you learn what that gashy 'join' really is.![]()
