The worst amp I've ever owned

I never owned one thank God but I had the misfortune of having to play through a Peavey Mark IV through a Peavey 2 x 15" cab several times. Talk about a lousy non descript tone. They seem to be common around here or were and I ran into them a lot unfortunately.

I saw scads of those Mark heads in the Midwest long, long ago. Oddly enough, I never played one nor did my peers own them. I was seeing them as trades in music stores and with dust on them in pawn shops

I have owned some losers, but the King of Farting Kardboard goes to my Acoustic 150b with matching 2x15 cab. I tried to save it by adding another 2x15 cab that I built with Altec 421a speakers. Nothing changed. Weak farting dry crap. Bought a concert rig from "Elephant's Memory" (John Lennon's backup band). Original SVT with 2 (yes two) V4b folded horns. I'll bet the audience didn't have any regularity problems.

Yes, I still remember a Montgomery Wards catalog from the 60s where they explained that their power ratings were superior to their competitors' because it showed much larger numbers. They actually had the gall to list the amp's average, IHF, peak, and their fabricated MAP (max avail power) ratings for a sample unit. The MAP was something ridiculous like 1000 watts, down through the average (RMS-so called). "See, if we rated this RMS you'd only be getting 10 watts!" Unbelievable.

I didn't have a bass from Wards, but i did get a bass from Lafayette Radio Electronics ( similar to Radio Shack). Short scale Univox Meastro bass. It was a buitofuk copy of an es335 gibson guitar. Wish i stil had it. For years i didn't even know it was a short scale or the existance of "short scale basses.
