Gotta at least give an honorable mention to his first MCA release in ‘68, Velvet Gloves And Spit, for the title alone and inclusion of The Pot Smoker’s Song. I stumped Denny Diamond with this song and he fronted an awesome Nashville area N. D. tribute band.

IIRC that one was one of the first albums I saw with a warning label about the lyric content.
