A few relationships ago I had a girlfriend (who was clearly losing an argument) actually say, "I'm tired of arguing about this - wanna have sex?"

Come to think of it, I think that would end an argument no matter who you were talking to, either from desire or horror.

Bad thing for me is that I find both of those topics really interesting in a dispassionate way.

No. I am never wrong. I have a degree in arguing any side of an argument. It pays off in those moments. One of my exes was fond of saying "Even when you're wrong, you're right."

It's a great thing. Guaranteed to shut anyone up instantly. The application might be a bit tricky let's say...if some hairy, nasty fat lady at the coffee shop counter is yelling at you, you would need to really be creative in applying the duct tape. It helps to not be proud I'd think. You would almost have to have Maki-like sense of not being a proud man . . Of course... the down side to all of this is that the removal may cause quite the opposite effect of shutting someone up, but by then you'd be long gone anyway.
