We got a new Zenith b&w 19” tv in 1962. VHF only and knobs for horizontal control, vertical control, sharpness and brightness. It had a fine-tuning ring around the dial to (obviously) fine tune any of the 3 tv stations we could get. The 4th local station was the educational tv (precursor to PBS,) but it was a UHF station.
I was 5 when we got it and I still used it when I went away to college in the mid 70s because my folks decided that, as long as I was leaving home, it was time for a color tv.

We had one of these near our apartment ca. 1966. My mother would never let me go (I was too young anyways,) and there was *always* a Cadillac type ambulance there for the cracked skulls and broken legs. Soooo many ways of getting severely injured on those in-ground tramps...

Even in that prelitigious era it didn’t last long.

Oh man. You should get together with one of my uncles. He got a few of us to play Risk with him at a family get-together once. Unfortunately, he came up with this suggestion after dinner. The freaking game lasted until ~2:00 AM.

Like I said, he got us to play once.
