Hate saying this, but a lot of vintage combos at ground level seem to eventually come with that little grey or brownish vertical streak on the grillcloth. I had a couple on my Peavey until I got wise and turned it facing the wall. The culprit being...

Peavey Mark III head with 2x15 Black Widow cabinet. I used a rig like this in the early 80s. Sounded great.

I have one of those Peavey bass cabinets in my garage right now. A good friend of mine had one in his home recording studio. He passed away and his cousin had the task of cleaning out his home and was going to throw it away along with a Pre Sonus digital recording mixing board and other equipment and asked me if I wanted them. I helped her with some insurance issues after he passed away. I spent quite a lot of time in his studio. He is missed by many of us.
