This reminds me a lot of the synthesizer we had in the music lab when I was at college. I don't remember it being in a case (or even very portable), but I remember having to use it for one of my classes. It was kind of fun making freaky sounds by moving the patch cords around. Really had no idea what I was doing...

My college offered a course on synthesizers. First semester was on an original Moog - an entire wall to plug into. Second semester was on the state of the art synth (final exam was to program an acoustic piano tone).

I have a Korg Polysix that a co-worker was tossing because it didn't work. I got online and found that these are notorious for the programming backup battery to leak and eat the copper traces. I pulled and replaced a few IC's, cleaned and soldered jumpers on the damaged traces, cleaned all of the pots and switches and replaced the battery with a leakproof Li-ion and she sounds great! It is in really nice shape and still has all of the knobs and switches. I even found copies of the original backup tape programs and set it back to factory defaults.
Got to use one of these in an electronic music class in high school.

We have bobs big boy in Japan still. Unfortunately no hamburgers. They only have hamburg steaks which are pretty much meat loaf.
