My father was born 61 and isn't interested in music and knows nothing about the music industry. When he saw an Ampeg or Marshall amp at my home he has no clue either they are old established brands or new, or expensive or cheap. But when he saw my cheap VOX practice amps he was like: "very cool, like the beatles."

The black one on the table is a yamaha mt8x 8 track the white one under the table is a Fostex x14 4 track

Thanks for posting this. This is like p0rn to me.

I read a while ago that Bruce Springsteen recorded Nebraska on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder, and that recording was what they used when the put out the album. Very cool, but I don't know how true that is. (??)

But first, there is not a person in Brooklyn NY that grew up in the 70s that doesn't know every word in this song. It was one of the most popular songs of all our childhoods. I found out a while back though that it was just a NY thing. The rest of the world never heard it, and I found that unbelievable.

Anyhow... is the above true?

Are any of you outside of NY familiar with this?



And in a somewhat related note, I was equally dumbfounded when I found out that 99% of people outside of our circles don't known what a luthier is. Go ahead and give it a try. Ask any non musician what a luthier is. You will be very surprised.

Not me. Looks like maybe a relatively locally produced "occupy the kids" shows. We a "show" called Captain Mitch in the afternoons here. It wasn't a Mr Roger's type show like your appears to be - he just hosted re-runs and cartoons for 3 hours. But he was a bit of a local celeb who I'm sure you've never heard of.

Trust me, there were plenty of us morons who would try anything, especially if it looked completely crazy. One of my hs classmates (Cedar Falls HS, '67) was arrested driving on the highway at 60 mph, steering with his teeth, on a bet. The guys who bet against him were in the car with him.

Yeah, not only that but he carried the cassette around in his jacket for ages, getting it covered in pocket lint and the rest.

... which I can’t recommend highly enough, a little bit dry in parts but an excellent read.

We had something Similar in the DFW area, back in the 60's

He played old cartoons, The Three Stooges etc.
