Oh wow. I had almost forgotten about the Radio Shack walkie-talkies we had as kids. It was almost an annual ritual: Get a set of walkies at the beginning of summer, run around in the woods with with them until they were broken somehow (antenna bent, waterlogged from rain and/or accidental dunking in the creek, dropped from moving bicycles), throw them away when school started back up, then get a fresh set around the time school ended the following summer.

I remember those from Popular Science when I was a kid.
Was trying to find ads for computer training schools from that time, no luck so far.
I am trying to figure out what exactly is meant by faulty elimination. I have an idea.
Birds seem to have no trouble at all crapping on my car.

It was a good idea on paper, but in practice, those plastic rings were not rigid enough to hold up under the weight of the frozen mass on top of them. Better to wash and re-use wooden sticks from previously-enjoyed proper popsicles.
