Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

Yesterday, I got stuck at a railroad crossing by a train. It's been years since this has happened. As I was waiting it occurred to me that a caboose at the end of a train is now long gone. A thing that we don't see anymore.

Caboose..........

They're still used in some special situations. On a long back-up move, there will be a train man(conductor?)on the rear area of the "Shoving Platform"-that's what they're called these days. He will have a small, shrill whistle for road crossings and be in contact with the engineer by radio. Usually, all the windows are covered/blanked.
ADDENDUM: note blanked 'windows'
