$695 for a Renault LeCar? I'll take two at that price!
I always loved the old Granny Goose chip commercials..
(probably already posted) Cigarette machines
![]()
Really? A whole roll of quarters!I saw an old cigarette machine just like that one Sunday evening in a venue where my band plays. Cigarettes are $10.00 a pack in it.
Edit: Cigarette change was THREE quarters, two dimes and a nickel to make up 60C for the machine.Really? A whole roll of quarters!
When I started working my first job ever in 1978, cigarettes were $0.60 a pack, and customers would ask for "cigarette change" which meant to change a dollar bill into two quarters, two dimes, and a nickel for the machine.
Sometimes it's hard to remember that was 45 years ago; if I'd been married then I might now have grandchildren who were legal adults on their own. Yikes. On the other hand sometimes it feels like yesterday, like I could go down there and order a sandwich and a beer right now. The world's changed so much; high school boys used to get drunk and drive around town all the time - CPS would be intervening now - but admitting to being gay would have been almost a death sentence in many parts of town.
