I saw that on TV a few months ago! Those anvils were going so high you didn't know where they were coming down! Maybe that's part of the thrill? IDK
This has been going on for a long time. I first found out about it when I was involved in Cowboy Action Shooting and later read an article by a woman describing it after seeing it at a New Year's Eve celebration in 1899 somewhere in West Texas.
Of course, we Texans come up with all the fun stuff.

The original Michelin Man from 1894.⁣ The Michelin Man is white because rubber tires are naturally white. It was not until 1912, that carbon chemicals were mixed into the white tires, which turned them black. The change was structural, not aesthetic. By adding carbon, tires became more durable.⁣

P.S. Michelin also began reviewing restaurants so that more people would travel further distances in their cars to eat at these restaurants. This in turn would wear down their tires faster, and force them to buy more.⁣

The star system that Michelin uses goes up to three and is broken down by whether or not it's worth driving to the restaurant.
One star: "A very good restaurant in its category"
Two star: "Excellent cooking, worth a detour"
Three star: "Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey...

Recently, and in a couple of weeks, I will play Darth Vader in a local theatrical production. We have the expensive, Disney-approved suit that looks very authentic - but wearing it is akin to the suit the individual in the photo is wearing. It's like putting on an insulated Zip-Lock bag and sealing it up. I wear a vest with six ice packs in it to survive about an hour and a half in it. :roflmao:
 
Here is an old Tektronix vacuum tube oscilloscope that I bought at a thrift store. I have modern scopes and thought about just scrapping it out for the tubes, and other components. It included some very nice probes that helped justify the cost, but I still probably paid more than it was worth. As I was examining it a little closer ofter getting it home, I found a sticker on it that showed that it was originally owned by a division of General Telephone and Electronics that had a facility near me that was the place where I got my first job as an electronics technician back in the 1970s. The lab that I worked in was not very large, and we did not have very many oscilloscopes. They were all Tektronix vacuum tube type scopes like this one, and I have absolutely no doubt that nearly fifty years ago, I made use of this very same instrument in my first electronics job!
