Long story short, my brother gave me these.... things.... as a gift a while back. He uses his all the time and can't imagine life without them. He cooks on them indoors, on the grill and has even used them over an open fire. Probably half of his meals are cooked on these roll-out copper mats.

For the life of me I can't fathom how or why I would ever use them.

His insistance that I should give them a try (and I will soon) got me to thinking.....

What do you guys use a lot..... something that you really enjoy or makes your life easier.... that you assume most haven't discovered or don't use?

Gadgets? Cooking tools? Hardware? Electronics? Travel items? Music related? Home entertainment? Cleaning? Health or exercise? Nutrition? Clothing? Money savings? Books? Sleep aids or bedding?

Go nuts.

If the only comment you have to contribute is how "stupid" someone's gadget or idea is, please move along. I'm sure there are plenty of "stupid" people who want your help elsewhere. ;)

Cast off factory wheels with delivery miles on their OEM tyres for a fraction of the cost of new tyres.

I know some of you guys also wear their music earplugs in bars, the better to hear everything, but I never see anyone else doing it.

Bring gourmet coffee from stovetop machine to work in a thermos to save $5 a day ( or spend $7 a week on beans when I could drink company instant for free? )

I'm undressed without my Leatherman. After misplacing the first one, bought a second, and that set has scissors, which the first didn't. The scissors and Phillips screwdriver are top of the use list, but the pliers and cutters are still used regularly. The first one went and turned up in carryon luggage AFTER we'd already checked luggage post-2001 (must have been in there from a pre-2001 trip when they were fine.) We quickly reshuffled to check another bag.

Pulse is the second, and the one I use mostly. The can opener is a bad, fussy bottle opener - otherwise everything there gets used and is usable (I have not had occasion to actually need to open a can without a more suitable tool handy.) I guess it's a retired model, and there are many, variously ridiculous/huge things under the Leatherman name now.

Paper towels.

Keeps vegetables from rotting so soon in refrigerator. Soaks up moisture.
On top of regular yogurt, soaks up whey(sour tasting stuff).
Soaks up oil in a pan before cleaning.
Soaks up oil from meat after cooking.
Soaks up moisture before cooking meat.
Dampen and clean bbq after cooking. Also cleans those Joe Forman type grills.
(High heat) oil up and rub on bbq before cooking.
Put bacon in between and cook in microwave.

I'm sure there's a bunch of other good stuff you guys know about that I haven't mentioned.

Yep.

We have vertical paper towel holders in each bathroom and a couple in the kitchen.

I also like the shop paper towels for the garage.
