Thinking about getting a new bass

+1 on the Jazz bass I love Jazz basses also for a P-bass if thats your thing try Peavey Fury Made US great tuners neck etc..Ive seen some really Cheap Ibanez 505 recently or Ibby ATK used ... Anything USA peavey is pretty nice like Dyna Bassss Patriot Basses and the Beast T-40 but those have gone up alot alot of good options at that price I would go lower and have money for Upgrades if you go Squire or MIM fender

Agreed with Ibanez or a Jazz Bass. Ibanez - more modern sounding with narrow string spacing, Jazz Bass - well, you just can't go wrong here.

I came from the short scale world when I first started, and my first LS was a Fender Jazz. It took awhile before I stopped hating that bass. It didn’t feel right nor sound right to my ears. My first bass was a Kalamazoo KB which is very similar to your EBO. I believe going from short scale to long is harder than from long to short (just my opinion).


That said, if you’re going LS maybe a P bass would sound better to you since you’re use to that big ole mudbucker on the EBO.

I'm betting you'll find it hard to put down. Nothing under $400 can touch it...I check out basses weekly, anything under $700, and the CV Jazz is in a class all by itself. Of course, it looks great in Inca Silver with the matching headstock, nicer than the Fender Standard Jazz in the same color. I've had nothing but compliments about this bass and several trade offers. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Fender raises the price to $475 for this and the James Johnston Jazz bass next year.
The CV sounds good with my Ibanez Promethean and my Fender Rumble 150...but it sounds incredible through my Markbass!

Another vote for Ibanez. I'd get the SR300 and use the extra money to upgrade your amp, too.

THIS. I have been using my 2010 SR300 since new and it is a dream to play. Numerous usable tones, extremely adjustable action (my strings are currently about 3mm off the rear pickup) and as such I am using it to audition at numerous music colleges, all of which have complimented the sound.
