thinking about getting an undercut!!

I had long hair for the better part of a decade, I haven't had short hair since I was like 12. A few months ago I was sick of it and my band gave me a mohawk since I was the only one without one. It sucked, because it looked like hell when it was down and took too long to put up, so I just looked like hell all the time. Maybe put it up 3-4 times in 2-3 months. I now have had a shaved head for a week which I vowed I'd never ever do, but I'm starting to like it, it's pretty sweet. I know my stuff when it comes to hair so here is my opinion.....

Option 1: Go to a hairdresser once a week to get your hair thinned. I have incredibly thick hair and always had to do this every week or two.

Option 2: Get dreads. Your hair is thick and dreads are cool, they are high maintenance for the first year or more if you get them. Know it's a big decision if you go that route, I've had them, weren't right for me.

Option 3: if your hair is more than 21" when pulled straight get a mohawk and get a punker to put it up for you with Knox just to say you had the worlds longest mohawk and get your picture in Guiness Book.

Option 4: Just shave it off, but try and make a bet with some drunk-o at a party like "I bet you 50 bucks I will shave my head right now"

Don't get an undercut! That is sooooo...late 80's/early 90's. You'll have to wear a wifebeater everywhere for it to look right.

Have you gone to a good salon? I mean, yeah, its not bad@$$ and metal and all that, but someone who knows how to work with long hair can give you a cut that will still be long and head-bangable, but can thin it out so your hair won't be so...I guess wadded-up would be a good word?

My husband has very curly hair. When he grows it long, the weight pulls a lot of the curl out of it, and it'll move nice when he head-bangs. But, in his day job, it is too hot to wear long, so he only grows it out in the winter. (The boat mechanic shop was 110F at the floor and 140F at about 8 ft. up, last week.)

Since when was being cool dated to a certain period? I say screw it, be yourself and get an undercut if you want. So what if it's dated to late 80's/early 90's. Cool is all about not caring what other people think about you, and doing whatever you want for yourself. Basically being selfish.

Lol thanks for the replies, good laugh. Hm i think you guys got the wrong message, im not looking at getting the extreme undercut (mohawk style, punk or goth style). Just an inch or more from the ears, and not completely shaven, a mate of mine got that and you can hardly tell its an undercut.

Thanks jsbass for keeping an open mind
Todd Stanly, i was thinking dreads, but id rather have good job prospects for next year (moving to melb and going to uni). And at the moment my hair isnt long enough to tie back with dreads.

There are a lot of ways to answer this.

1. First thought. Do what you got to do and go with it. If you're starting a thread about you're hair you're breaking all kinds of man laws.

2. Second thought. This dude is either from 1990 or Canada. The difference is left in the semantics.

3. Last thought. Get a mullet. Like this dude. Sfelby (short front long back). He's totally metal.
