Thinking is Dangerous.

Don't act. That way you won't loose anything, won't gain anything and most important, won't learn anything. stay in your comfort zone at all times.

In case you missed it, the point of this statement is to do the polar opposite of it. Live, love, laugh, cry and learn my young friend. Don't be sitting in a rocking chair still wondering about this 40 years from now.

"Tis better to have loved and lost......" Seriously, this is true. I have been in half a dozen long-term relationships. Some ended in heartbreak. But I wouldn't trade any of them at all.

Yikes. How old are you exactly? Unless you're relatively older I'd highly, highly suggest passing on this.

Nah, you got it all wrong.

Whenever she comes to town, he's got himself some tail.
When she leaves, he can turn his attention to other local ladies.
When she comes back, more tail.

Forget all about relationships. Tap it when shes in town, tap others when shes not.

+1. Drop it like its hot. 3 hours?? Ain't nobody got time for that!

Unless she makes time for that.

she has become basically an idol.

Picture her sitting on the toilet taking a huge, smelly dump.

She may be smart/funny/attractive, but I'll bet dollars to donuts she has flaws like everyone else. Maybe she doesn't look good without make-up, maybe she can't hold a job. She might be mean to animals or poor people. This girl is not perfect, acting like she is perfect will only make her think she is too good for you.

Oh. Three hours away? Never mind. It brings to mind something Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald came up with. Now, if you two ever live closer together, then I go back to what I said earlier. Anyway ...

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As he rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing

Well, I turned 18 two weeks ago. And on what Matticus said, I know your joking, and that's what I would of done. But I think that's kind of disrespectful. Treat her nice while she's there and make her feel like she's the only one with your attention and then go smack cheeks with some other chick? Nah.

Anyways. I think me and her are just going to have to sit down and have a good discussion on what we want to do.

I think you may have mistaken my advice. Im saying youre probably better off not getting involved in a relationship with her, her being 3 hours away and only able to see you once a fortnight.
Youre too young to get so involved in such a trying relationship with someone. Long distance relationships are not easy to maintain. That doesnt mean that you two cannot continue to know each other and have fun when she's around.

There was a chick I was nearly obsessed with all throughout high school. I tried to get close to her, but I was a nervous wreck and could never manage to convey my feelings. Then one day in senior year, I realized that I better act soon or I might never see her again. I asked her out, and guess what?

Rejected.

I was free. I was no longer haunted by the thought of what could be. I had my answer. A few weeks later, I asked out a girl who I've been with for four years now. Take the chance - it's easier than all the nervousness and 'what ifs' before.

And I agree with Matticus. You both know you like each other, but you live too far away for a real relationship. Therefore, have your fun when she's around, and play the field when she's not. It might sound ungentlemanly, but it's a great way to find out what you really want in a partner, and get your kicks at the same time. I only wish I had done this in high school.

Also, if a girl hesitates in conversation, never initiates conversation, or has trouble holding a conversation with you...consider that goose cooked.

You wouldn't happen to be my clone, would you? You basically narrated my situation and thoughts :p

IMHO, we often get tangled up in thinking about what might happen and end up underestimating our ability to cope with a broken heart, all the while overestimating the stakes involved.

As far as idolizing her goes, with a recent experience such as this myself I say this - be rest assured. Nobody's perfect.

We should start a stupid angsty teen club, and just sit around listening to Simple Plan and lamenting. :D

I'm just curious how you can be obsessing over a girl for 2 years when you probably don't even see her on an even semi regular basis.

It happens. I've been where the OP is.

I COMPLETELY wasted my sophomore and junior year of high school obsessing over a girl who has been majorly leading me on since I met her freshman year. She's a giant b-word, she is actually the definition of passive aggressive and she barely had feelings for me if any at all... and I knew this the entire time. For no reason what-so-ever I was completely infatuated with this girl for two whole years. I ended two relationships with other girls because of said girl. I just gave up and stopped taking to her all together. I've finally been able to get over it. I guess its just hormones, or possibly psychosis. I'm leaning towards the latter.
