I'm about > < close to ordering a neck from Warmoth. Maple/maple jazz with black inlays and an upgraded nut.

This setup is about $210. Can someone with hands on experience compare the Warmoth necks with say, a standard MIA fender? $210 is a great price, unless we are talking about a significant drop off in quality.

What kind of body are you going to put that neck on?

Hey! I didn't know that Warmoth offered 17.5mm string spacing on basses apart from the Gecko line.

Check this out - Invalid Link Removed

The pic of the neck clearly shows its width as 74mm at the neck heel. That to me looks like it's 19mm spacing. Can anyone tell me how do I get a neck with 17.5mm spacing. I wanted to go for a jazz body and a neck from Warmoth but I've always been turned off by 19mm spacing.

With this news that they might possibly do a 17.5mm spaced narrow neck bass, I might go in for one!!

Definitely not a drop in quality.

Personally I prefer Warmoth to Allparts, having owned both. Warmoth seem to be better made, with better woods. I know others disagree though.

Warmoth Deluxe V neck heels are too narrow for 19 mm in my opinion. Spike@Warmoth said the Deluxe V is a 17.5 spec'd item, however I have used both 17.5 AND 18mm bridges (Hipshot A) with great results. Choose the bridge that gives you the spacing you desire. The neck itself isn't any narrower for a 17.5 or 18 or 19 for that matter, so there isn't a "17.5 neck" per se. The bridge spacing and the neck/nut width are the variables that determine spacing at both ends of the neck.

Not sure about that. I think they email you a UPS related notice that something is about to be shipped pertaining to your order.
Questions like that are probably better aimed at Warmoth directly.

In my opinion, Warmoth necks are better quality than Fender. Fender will dress the frets on an American bass before shipping, Warmoth necks/frets would need that final step done by the end user.

$210 for a neck, + finishing costs, nut work and fret dressing if desired, comes closer to $350 when your done. Still, worthwhile for a quality neck that will last a lifetime.

All my past orders, Warmoth sent an email stating a UPS shipping label was generated. The very next day, the item shipped. Hope that helps, thats to the best of my recollection.

NOT to take anything away from this (useful) thread...but there are answers to many questions on almost any aspect of building a Warmoth bass at: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/ . Half the fun of a build is performing one's due diligence for varied areas of the build. The other half is (of course) the satisfaction one derives from a well crafted bass project that looks, feels, and sounds like a million $$$ :smug:
