If you can find one, the U.S. made Peavey Millenium is also a good option.
I recently picked up an older Musicman SR5 in great shape for $900. I highly recommend them if you can find one within your budget.
I've played a few Ibanez basses - and really like the SR505 - I just it felt a bit flimsy. I'm really thinking of going with the 615 if it's as smooth as the 415. Oh, and the Spector Legend Custom is pretty sweet too.
