Thinking on a Squire

Hey guys. I've got a little cash and I'm thinking that it's new bass time again! But, I don't have too much cash, so I'm thinking of going with a Squire. The problem(well, not really a problem), is that I've never really regarded Squires all that highly. I know that Squire is to Fender as Epiphone is to Gibson(they are both subsidiaries to a larger company), and although I own a couple Epiphones and I can speak for their quality, does Fender put as much into their Squire lines as Gibson puts into Epiphone???

I like the tone on a squire vm jazz better then your MIM jazz, but thats me and my opinion. pros- it sounds great at a low cost, looks nice with the maple wood stays in tune " mine does" cons- heavy bass, black block inlays are really painted on but I don't care. I have left mine for the most part stock, but put a bad ass II bridge on it and had a better input jack put on it. I left the stock pick ups because I like the sound and mine stays in tune so the tuners are stock as well all in all I love it. play a couple and find one that has a good neck little to no buzz and then get a nice set up " action set, neck adjusted and put on your favorite strings ect as I do with any bass I buy. oh get a nice thick strap since it is rather heavy if you get one. do yourself a favor and go to a music store and play one and then try a MIM jazz and see what one sounds better.
