This Guy is NUTS!

Not every ones style, but I like it
That guys pretty good. Not TOO much of the stuff he does is technically impressive to warrant the attention he gets, he just overplays the crap out of every thing he plays, spamming chords and double thumb. He also rips a lot from Flea. The entire song is pretty much derived from the second half of Nobody Weird Like Me. The cleanliness and timing are impeccable though. But yikes, that is one ugly bass tone.

That Japanese guy is nuts.

Jeez, that gave me a headache! That guy also seems like he might be a bit on the unstable/violent side, I would not invite him in for a cup of tea.:smug:

I think I've heard enough slappity slappity in this thread to last me the next year or so. I have to admit I cringe a bit when asked to slap anymore, but ppl still love it for some reason - I blame Seinfeld. I'm off to play my Guild short scale strung with flats.:D

I tried to listen to some of it...but I felt like I was being transformed to 1991, and that was NOT a good thing.

It's almost like going on a guitar site and clicking on a thread that linked you to nothing but tapping solos...endless tapping solos...I think my version of hell would be an endless bass slapper and and endless guitar tapper having a cheese-off for all eternity. Of course the drummer would have to be Mike Portnoy.

Even Flea gave up trying to be Flea. I would suggest alot of those YouTubers learn that last thing from him.

It didn't have the same effect on me...

One thing to note, here: When there is advertising on a YouTube video, the video owner gets paid every time it's viewed.

Could this thread have been started merely to get this guy paid?

The views this thread will generate are worth about 12 cents. The rate of pay is variable but averages out to about $1K per 100,000 views for a worthwhile video.

Hahahaha, top notch post all the way through. Amen. Although I like it when I can easily impress people by Flea slapping or pentatonic twiddling. Maybe I'm just insecure :smug:

LOL! Yeah, youngsters usually are.

I for one was not at all impressed with the vid. Very boring and elementary. But then, I think back when I first started playing in 1972. My playing was quite elementary as well.

Yeah but thankfully our egos were kept somewhat in check by a lack of YouTube. Now it's a "I'm funky badass on bass and on YouTube" global brag-fest. It's like auditions on Anerican idol where the people think they're all that and they just stink the joint up. Doh there I go again.

How did you draw this conclusion?

I thought the dudes speed, timing, and precision were impressive, but I cant say your wrong for not agreeing. But how can you judge someone as violent or unstable by watching them play an instrument?

And for somebody a little more ...bedroomy...I like this guy, these days. No slap, a lot of covers and a tight and energetic finger technique.

To much click clack for my liking, he needs to adjust his setup or style slightly to get rid it.

That being said, he is much faster than I can claim to be.
