The way that they had every little nuance and tone dialed in I know that I'd bring 'em all out for that show if it was me.

And I wouldn't doubt if half of them were to keep Alex fresh as well, just when a long rehearsal day starts to set in... swap out Main Bass with Bass-I-Haven't-Played-In-A-While and voila, fun times

It was rehearsal and it takes time to get the right sound for a artist who's solo work as an adult alone extended beyond almost 3 decades.

During that almost 3 decade long solo career the tone of the basses really covered a vast spectrum.

nope. just simply getting the job done.

seriously, every tune seemed to be to-the-original perfect tonally. so like J was saying, I wouldn't doubt it at all that Alex brought his arsenal to make sure each tune was dialed in perfectly tone wise. when the production was as big and meticulous as it was for this show I don't know any bassist/guitarist that would've shown up with one axe and a 'back up'.

I just saw it last night, and I'd rate it excellent for several reasons. The backstage glimpse at such a huge production was really cool to see, from their eyes, so to speak.

Also, the band, the dancers, and MJ were spot on and incredible to watch. Like the guy or not, no one in their right mind can deny the talent he posessed. What a massive loss to music and entertainment his death was.

Granted, the "movie" wasn't a "movie", and anyone that went expecting such would most likely be extremely disappointed. It was a low quality documentary, for the most part. No one was expecting the guy to pass away, and the footage being sought after to make a movie. Regardless, if you are a fan of Michael Jackson, or want that insider's look into the backstage makings of a huge production, you can't deny this was a great film.

Just an fyi, but Judith Hill, the duet girl from the film (She also sang "Heal the World" at the memorial), is holding a solo benefit concert at the El Rey in Hollywood next Monday, 12/14 at 6:30. I'll be playing drums for her opening act, Lu Rain.

If you're in the neighborhood, come check it out. 100% of the ticket price is going to the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission.
