sorry to not multi-quote but the reason for the hate is that that convenience, as wonderful as it is, has a very profound human cost that many of us are increasingly aware of.

Now link the regulations requiring such items to be destroyed. For example covid 19 masks cannot be resold if opened. Then link to any other warehouse that does the exact same crap. Then realize you just want to complain for no reason.

Twice I've ordered 5 string GHS strings from Amazon, one set of Pressurewounds last year and more recently Round Core boomers. Both sets were clearly marked as 4 string sets but had small printed labels on them indicating they were 5 string. Got the replacements in both cases correctly, but the hassle of shipping back is not worth the time or effort. I've bought hundred of items on Amazon over the years, some of it was worthless junk, but never had the wrong items shipped to me other than the bass strings. I'll buy elsewhere going forward.

I knew these were going to be Used; Amazon Warehouse is for all their customer returns and renewed/refurb products. It was described as:
Condition: Used - Good - Small cosmetic imperfection on top, front or sides of item. Item will come repackaged.

I only buy used strings for DB when I was trying out strings that will be good for my basses. After I figured it out and about 400 out, I stuck to a couple of brands and models.

Collector's value, for strings that were used on a notable album or concert. That's about the only instance I can think of though, and those strings wouldn't have been bought to be used again.

Better described as open box or damaged packaging. I've ordered dozens from AW, and the are usually as new. Had a problem twice on strings, once on an open box bridge. Easy returns, I'll keep doing it. Can't beat unused DR's for $9.98

In our area they are providing lots of jobs. $17 to start, benefits from the start. Raise after 6 months. I guess conditions depend what generation you are. What's easy work for some is cruel and unusual for others.

There’s a lot I want to say to this that I don’t know how to say nicely, but I would implore you to do even the bare minimum of reading on Bezos and how he got and maintains his fortune, and what that costs all of us, before you cast him as the “little guy” who “risked it all” to “stick it to the man” or compare him to, like, the owner of a mom and pop shop showing up at 2am when the store floods.

These threads are always illuminating because you get to see who and who doesn’t factor in the human cost of the way we live today, for better or worse.

There are situations where the big box store has killed the small businesses in a small town and the distance to work at somewhere else makes for limited choice.
The human cost of the way we live is another subject that includes food availability, quality education, clean air and water. Don't buy from him if you don't like his policies. It's personal choice whether you work for him or use his services.

The only way I would even consider buying used strings would be here on TB where I have half a chance of getting something I can actually use. From a retailer or untested "outlet?" Never.

Yeah, they're going back. That's the one good thing about Amazon; the purchase is always risk free since they'll take back basically anything and pay for shipping. I guess this pack of strings shows the negative side of that return policy.

I’d say it shows that whomever evaluates returns has no actual knowledge of many of the hundreds of thousands of returns they receive on a regular basis. The fact that you can send back a used/returned item is proof of the effectiveness of that segment of Amazon’s business. Someone sent in used strings and those strings wound up back in inventory. You bought those strings and found them unacceptable but you can return them on their dime.
Sounds like a more than fair return policy to me, but given the regularity that experiences like this come to light, i’d need something pretty bad before I’d ever buy a used item from Amazon.
They at least are honest enough to tell you it was used. I bought a bluetooth mouse from Best Buy and received what was obviously a very used, nonfunctional mouse in a taped up box. I called and told them what happened and they sent me a new one and didn’t want the used one back.
I guess I was supposed to be grateful i only lost a weeks worth of time waiting on the second mouse

I've ordered strings from Amazon many times & never had a problem. I even bought some returned strings once. They were brand new, unopened. The box was slightly dirty.
