I have been doing Amazon since it was just books. And as software/IOT/embedded GUY who spent until last year doing AI work (I said guy so no fancy degrees/schools ) I had been using AWS personally for some projects and learning. Through Amazon I came to know some vendors I like and I buy from there directly after the initial Amazon purchase although some prefer that I still go through Amazon and I think that if for ease of shipping. Many usually include their cards in the package and many are small stores. You have the power to not buy from them but in the end it's just another corporation you are supporting. Live a simple and leaner life. The less of a consumer you are the less you are supporting -- if that's what really you want to do. I cannot say that I am a good example but I try

Probably the funniest show I've sever seen in my life is on Amazon Prime. The Goes Wrong Show


As a person who's done stagework and had shows (and gigs) go wrong, I nearly die laughing. This clip is from '90 degrees', and the gag is that every time the script says 90 degrees, the builders assumed the set plans needed to be rotated 90 degrees, so each room is..... well...

Amazon is the devil. It sucks as it’s so convenient Ian’s they have everything. We’re a Prime family. I’m torn. I read a book called Fulfillment about Amazon and how they do business and treat people. There’s a reason that Bezos is going into space. Workers die in his warehouses. They bully cities into giving them tax breaks to locate there. It’s al jus my really bad.

Amazon is a freaking death star these days. They turned into an evil empire and I avoid them like AIDS. Bezos makes palpatine look like the wizard of Oz. Screw Amazon. I ordered off of eBay and the last strings I got had a sticker on it from a warehouse. Good news is that there was no corrosion and they haven't been cut or strung up so they were fine.

@jtlee - I don’t think it’s so much what you deserve as you just made a simple mistake when you ordered something. It’s not like none of us ever did that navigating Amazon’s labyrinth of a website. I was ordering plumbing fixture for a remodeling project snd got some refurbed pieces. The seller didn’t indicate they weren’t factory new in the main listing. You had to burrow down two paragraphs deep in the detailed description to find the word ‘refurbished.’

There’s a lot I want to say to this that I don’t know how to say nicely, but I would implore you to do even the bare minimum of reading on Bezos and how he got and maintains his fortune, and what that costs all of us, before you cast him as the “little guy” who “risked it all” to “stick it to the man” or compare him to, like, the owner of a mom and pop shop showing up at 2am when the store floods.

These threads are always illuminating because you get to see who and who doesn’t factor in the human cost of the way we live today, for better or worse.

Sorry to interject, but in the interest of being productive I should ask for clarification. I didn't see that anyone in the thread was upset, nor did I see anyone saying that we should look to Amazon for how we should treat each other.

Again, I would respectfully request that you do some reading on the subject before saying things like this.

I buy a lot of strings from amazon. Never had any issues with them. I know what the amazon warehouse (returned/used) sells, therefore I probably wouldnt have bought strings from them. People are shady, so no doubt someone returned their old strings. Sucks that happened. At least the return policy is solid.

Dont be scared to buy strings from Amazon. Just stick with the new ones!

+1 brought loads of strings from Amazon also and never had an issue, as long it says Despatched and fulfilled by Amazon then it is usually fine

Amazon Warehouse is stuff they've damaged while moving it around, broken the package open and don't know if they retrieved all the parts, some returns, etc. Sometimes it's just superficial damage to the box or the packaging. Unfortunately they don't even try to tell you what the problem is; just "damage to the top, damage to the side . . . ". So Warehouse can be a pretty good deal, or can be a total bust. Most (not all) Amazon items can be returned at no cost to the customer.
