this looks like a Bass from Rondo...

and if any of that wasn't enough ... Check this out. Lifted directly off of Rondo's page.

Right, silk purse, sows ear, let the buyer if you sell something for two or three times more than it's worth I call that misrepresentation.

IANAL, but I don't think that's misrepresentation. *IF* (big if) everything in his ad is true, then there's no misrepresentation. Has he lied by omission? Maybe; we don't really know. It's clearly not a stock Rondo bass, though, unless the Rondo comes with Duncans.

I swear I'm not trying to start a fight, but there's not a world of difference b/t this guy swapping pickups, adding a case and his name on the headstock, and charging more money and other builders who build basses from parts from other manufacturers. They're both "adding value"; the question is, how much value is this guy adding, and is it worth his asking price? Not bloody likely.

The minute he lifted pictures off their sites he became a scumbag. I garuntee you that he didn't ask for permission.

In fact, I'm not an expert, but I do believe that could open him up to legal ramifications from Rondo and other places he is stealing pictures from.

Matthew Loren McInotsh is known for his Very Detailed Artistic touch to his very high quality American Handmade guitars. His goal is to offer the most professional quality guitar for the most competitive price. His random appearances around town offer highly discounted prices. So he has been labled as the working mans custom guitar builder. All of the MLM Guitars are built at Matthews home in Massillon, Ohio USA. This keeping the prices to an unbeatable low. No overhead... No cost. Just the professional grade instrument that is know as MLM.

His guitars are NOT MADE IN THE USA... That's a pretty big no-no and makes it officially a scam. If we report him to the correct people for this he could be in for some trouble but I don't know who the correct people would be. US customs? I know that it is against the law to remove for instance "made in korea" stickers and claiming something was made in the USA. I am taking business law taught by a lawyer right now so I will ask her. She did briefly say that foreign goods must say ehere they are made but never went into detail.

Also at the very least Rondo and/or fearless guitars could tell him to take there copyrighted pics down (via cease and desist letter.) They probably wouldn't go to court but they could probably pretty easily contact his ISP and shut down his site.

I guess we have a difference of opinion there. There's nothing to stop him or anyone else from buying a bass from Shine or anywhere else, for that matter, modifying it, and listing it on eBay for whatever price he wants. Unless we know for a fact that something is his listing is out-and-out false, then there's no scam -- just an overpriced bass.

From his ad:
Seymour Duncan Phase II Soapbar ASB2-6 pick ups make the guitar extremely versible.

Sure don't look like these:

Found on the Seymour Duncan web site.

Seems kind of out-and-out false to me.

From Mr. McIntosh's web site (my bolds):

And (my bolds):
Welcome to the MLM Custom Shop. This is all that I'm offering for the 2008 season. A lot has changed... So check it out. Remember! THE SKY'S THE LIMIT ON CUSTOM BUILDING! All of the featured guitars are past builds and are only shown as a foundation for your own custom piece. All of my guitars are 100% American Made! And display only the finest Quality, unique sound and appearance. So what are you wainting for! Come on in...

Here is one of his images from another guitar of the "Certificate Of Authenticity," please note the phrases "Authentic American Hand Made Matthew Loren McIntosh guitar" and "Hand Crafted In USA". Those certainly give me a different impression than an import instrument that has been somehow "Pro Modified."

I visited his site yesterday after seeing the ebay ad; his "logo" got me a little suspicious. Not to mention the Yahoo "favicon" on a geocities.com hosted web site.

In my opinion of course...

Right.

Well, that's all the evidence I needed. Guy is clearly misrepresenting his offerings here.

All previous defense herein rescinded.
