this looks like a Bass from Rondo...

or is it that the 2 basses are just circumstantially similar in looks, and not necessarily in make-up.
Anyone deal with this guy or ever heard from him? If that is a Rondo Bass, then he's asking a little too much for it, as well as a totally opposite description of it...

The bass looks pretty much the same as the rondo version to me, but if you look on the site there is a 12 string acoustic which looks IDENTICAL to the 12 string acoustic they're selling on rondo. I would know; I own one. And I can tell you, recutting that headstock from the Agile shape to this guy's 'custom' shape would be pretty simple.

It is available through a Korean company called Shine. That particular bass is produced in China (unless that has changed.) Several years ago, I screwed around with ordering basses from overseas (for resale.) At the amount I could afford to order that model would have cost me $75.00 each. They will put whatever you want on the headstock.

Hmmm... Smells Fishy!

I say he's misrepresenting it by not saying:

And it doesn't look refinished to me.

I guess we have a difference of opinion there. There's nothing to stop him or anyone else from buying a bass from Shine or anywhere else, for that matter, modifying it, and listing it on eBay for whatever price he wants. Unless we know for a fact that something is his listing is out-and-out false, then there's no scam -- just an overpriced bass.

He's got that Vegas Guitar one listed as one of his as well.

I SWEAR I just saw this guitar on someone elses website. Can't remember who's now, but it was somthing that I had linked to off of TB. I think it was from a smaller builder who also specializes in refinished.

That pic from mortar's post is definitly right off of Rondo's site as well.

Right, silk purse, sows ear, let the buyer beware.

I could be wrong, but I'm betting he hasn't changed a thing on it, but the headstock label. His ad copy is full of high end speak and names. if you sell something for two or three times more than it's worth I call that misrepresentation.

No way!

If you go to the guy's site and click on either the 'products' or 'contact info' page, the pictures the guy has up there are pictures of the sales floor of Fearless Guitars in Portland, OR! I know this cause i used to frequent the shop when I still lived there (excellent place btw).

I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous. This guy is running some sort of scam.
