This made me feel all warm and nerdy inside.

Except I'm sure there was more communication than in this story.

If I understand the chronology right, they never spoke, he protected her during a battle and automatically got feelings for him, he couldn't play anymore because he couldn't spare the time, she e-mailed him telling him her feelings, they exchanged a few more e-mails, she flew out to meet him, and wed a few months later.

And he told her to come over... while he was with another chick. Classy.

Her nose is weird.

This is weirder.

One day, when as Andurus he endangered his own character in the game to save me, I felt an incredible bond between us.

OMG he clicked few buttons for me Im'ma get married to him!!!111:hmm:

Ofcourse this could happen,I've seen people start dating after meeting in MMO's.But this gal seems to take this a bit too serious if giving statements like this I guess.

The article says they married in Sept 09, first met IRL around Christmas 08.

It looks like it wasn't "omg you saved me from the big scary dragon, marry me"

Exactly the point I planned on making :).

Ultimately, we all fall in love with who a person is, right? So how inconceivable is it that it happens before actually meeting them in person? I suppose it helped that once they did meet neither looked like this:

As far as the "adultery" the article doesn't say whether they were actually seeing each other while the guy was still in a relationship. And realistically who would instantly throw away an existing relationship to be with someone they met online without having met them first and seeing if that was what they really wanted to do? As far as I'm concerned, this guy was testing the waters by meeting this girl and it just so happened that they really did click.

They look nothing like their avatars. I'm not sure if he got off lightly - her not looking like a dwarf but having a penis instead of a nose.
There are loads of stupid jokes being missed here containing the words:
Joystick
glued to his keyboard
splashing out on a new screen
etc

Because some news site decided that it would be despite similar occurrences long before this particular story :p. I just thought I'd post it because 1) I used a FFXI addict and still get urges and 2) I thought it was interesting that this article gave more background info that these kind of reports normally get. It normally goes "Nerd couple hooks up over video game. They're weird. MMOs destroy relationships" and all that blah.

This is nice to see. Its becoming more and more frequent that relationships start online. I know a girl that dated a guy she met playing on Xbox live, but they have since broke up after a month or 2 of IRL relationship.
