Okay, so - I want to record videos on my iPad of me playing my bass. I want to record the video with the iPad camera, and record audio direct to the iPad (not using the iPad mic).

Can I use the DI out from my amp, or a DI box straight to my iPad, either through the Lightning connector or the headphone jack? If so how?

Thanks in advance!

For this type of task I would just grab a camcorder that allows you to plug in an external microphone. My wife bought one for her business that works great. HD, onboard phantom power, and no synchronization issues in post. Download everything from the camera to a computer and edit to your heart's content. If you have to do it on an iPad, well... That really limits your options.
