No, no. If you had taken the Mazda rotary engine approach, you could put the bass on auto-spin.

Not to mention the added cost of retro fitting it for the Southern Hemisphere reverse-coriolis effect.

Decades ago when I was an interning library student in Baton Rouge, I got a homework extra-credit question whose answer was the coriolis effect. I was stumped, but a fellow I knew came in and I mentioned the question to him, and he gave me the answer right off. He had come into the library to use a microfilm index to look for magazine articles on alchemy.

Thank you, 9Thumbs. Two weeks ago I was carrying a battered old fixer-upper up narrow stairs in my old terrace house in Sydney. One hand for the railing and the bass on my hip with the other. Reaching the landing above I ran out of L hand holds and trusted my right leg to make the last step. It gave way and I tumbled backwards with the bass. I ended up head down on my back and clinging to the bannister with my one hand and bass wedged into my R armpit, trying to slide over me. It took about less than a minute for my wife to come to the rescue and haul the bass off me but she then had to call for help from my daughter and her boyfriend who were about 50 metres away. They finally had to help me bump my way down the flight of stairs one-at-a-time on my back and then stand up at the bottom. The miracles were (1) I did not break anything and (2) only one new crack was added to the front of the old bass, a German 1900s 3/4 flat back whose front has been painted cream with house paint. But I ended up with some beautiful bruises in my R armpit and self-esteem !!
