This sure looks like a Wal!

Anyone remember this bass? It was for sale pre-owned on the Bass Northwest website. I saved these pics in November 2010. It definitely reminded me of a Wal. Made by a fellow by the name of Helms. I seriously considered buying it. Have no idea what kind of pickups and electronics it had. It may have been over my weight limit. Can't recall for sure.

I still find it crazy that someone building a Wal copy would give it a huge blocky heel like that, it looks like a real hand-wrecker. A bit like building a Shelby Cobra replica or whatever, you'd expect that some functional upgrades would be made here and there.

Maybe Mr. Helms was channeling his inner love for Fender basses. They have a similar looking heel. At least he didn't add a clumsy metal plate. :thumbsup:
