Thoughts on 90s Ibanez Sr505

Hey guys.

I've been eyeing the current SR505E and SR605E for a while now but they're currently out of my budget. So I set up an alert on the local ebay-like platform and I got a hit on a 90s Sr505 (or so it looks like by the photos I've seen).

Currently a new SR505E or SR605E are around €780-€890 euros respectively while this one is €150.

Naturally, I've been thinking about it.
I figure that it's a nice price for a 5 string bass similar to the ones I've tried in person and I can use it to get used to 5 strings as I've been playing for only a year and a half but because I'm into metal, a 5 string bass is the way to go.

The website offers one month warranty on it and if there's something wrong with it I can return it.

So the plan would be to have it checked and set up by my trusted technician after purchasing.

If you see the photos it definitely needs to a set up.

So my questions are:

Do you have any experiences with these basses?
Do you have any advice?

I find it weird that there seems to be something not being used on the electronics photo but I don't know anything about electronics and I can't find anything online.

I can't comment on the electronics but i own a SR505, MIK, from the mid 2,000's. Much different from current models in as much as the finish doesn't wear down, they are substantially heavier, have fantasic necks, and i for one really like the electronics package. I can dial in pretty much any tone i like depending on the string choice. If you get the chance to play one they are highly recommended.

I own a few Ibanez basses. Artcore’s and Soundgears and a Mikro. Soundgears are predominately made for Ibanez by Cor-Tek aka Cort. They’re decent basses. I own a Soundgear Portamento and a Premium 1200E and love them.
