Thoughts on a Greco Rick copy in Japan..

I'm currently in Japan and went to Ochonomizu and played a Greco Rick copy. It was awesome. The price tag was around $600 us. Should I got back a buy it? The name plate said Jarenobacker?

Played like butter, assuming its 80's.

What do ya'll think?

Pics? All the Greco rics I've seen had "Grecoguitar" written like the usual "Rickenbacker" logo. Haven't seen one with that name, but I'm certainly no expert on these.
If it plays, sounds & feels good.....:thumbup:

Hi.

AFAIK the Japanese are even more enthusiastic about their authentic vintage copies of the US instruments than the rest of the world.
Greco and Ibanez (and its predecessors) are on the top of the list.
That in mind the price sounds like one hell of a deal. One hell of a deals don't come around too often...

For a vintage copy that plays well and is in good condition $600 is IMO a good price regardless of the exact manufacturer, as long as we're talking about a NT.
SN's and especially BO's tend to be cheaper.

I'd say You definitely should check it out again if owning a Ric copy is your thing.
It sure is mine .

Greco did do some wonderful copies,i used to own one of their Super Beetles,and it was a great extremely well made bass.

+1 Greco sure did do many wonderful basses & I had a beautiful "maple-glo" Greco-ric a while back.
I just haven't heard that name the op said it's called before- jarenobacker
Hopefully some one who's heard this name before will chime in

it was an amazing playing bass. some tail lift, a little rust. some off trim but other wise awesome. i intend to head back and try to pick it up. Only thing is that they didnt have a hard case for its safe flight back home... i'll have to look into it.

Sounds like "Jarenobacker" was the name a previous owner gave it, as in "Ronaldobacker" or "Steveobacker".

That sounds like an extremely accurate replica!!
