Thoughts on downsizing?

So a while back I scratched a few itches. Ended up with a carvin mb15 and a small reasonable pedalboard to have a "gig rig" just in case I wanted to play out with others.

Well, I don't want to do that. So I sold most of it and I'm back down to an iPad rig only, I'm not upset (anymore).

I don't really intend to gig... basically ever. So I've been contemplating selling my GLS jbass, especially since there's a comfy Kent P copy for dirt cheap in town that, if the pickups are lack luster, I could easily throw some GZR's in.

TL;DR- I'm not interested in gigging but I'm on the fence about selling my most giggable bass for something crappy but decent for my needs. Opinions?

I don't really see much difference between a "giggable" bass and one you would play at home. It still has to play nice, have good intonation and tone and be comfortable. If your current bass fits that bill, keep it. If you find another, fine. There is a difference between a "giggable" rig and a home practice amp, but I don't see any difference between basses. A "giggable" bass can be a couple hundred dollar Ibanez or a four thousand dollar Roscoe. Although you don't need a fancy bass to play at home and learn on it does need to be decent enough to not impede your learning process.

FWIW, to me bass is an accompaniment instrument and is at its best when playing with others. Does not have to be playing out at a gig but IMHO bass is all about playing with others.

Keep the GL & amp. Life is too short for crappy gear.
Have fun with it IMHO.

Unless you're desperate for the cash, keep it. You never know when something may come up. I went through this same thing recently, and I sold off everything except my favorite bass.

Well, I could have a "good" Kent short scale P, with GZR's, for about $80 total, and pocket the proceeds from the GLS...

I love my Geddy, and never planned on selling, but I am always drawn to mid/short scale and just sort of have a desire for change.

I'll let it stew a bit and see what rises to the surface. Still have my Hagstrom project going, just need some pickguard material and to finish the nut before I can slap it all back together.
