I have been curious about this one for a while, as it checks so many of my preferred boxes (5er, 34'/19mm, 21 frets, passive, maple board, not sunburst/tort) and I love the retro-nouveau style thing.....I just bought a used one off eBay that is reportedly (and seemingly reliably) well under 9 lbs and am eager to try it. After being a J5 guy for a long time I drunk from the P cup over the past year and would love to have 1 bass with both flavours (or close variants thereof) on tap. The stuff I have found on line is minimal....any thoughts on the sound of the Reverend take on the reverse P or MM pups or sound clips appreciated :) The P(ish) sound I have been mainly digging over the past year is coming from the Delano split coil Xtender, which goes both lower and higher than the classic Fender P sound, but with the same inherent mid grunt. I'm not sure exactly what to expect from the Reverend reverse P beast.

I have a Thundergun...same pickups and electronics...and it's right up there with my G&L L2000s. Plus, it only weighs 7.9 lbs!
Had this, too.
Selling it was a big mistake.

Andy made five or six Thundergun videos...check them out, too.

I like mine a lot. I have posted this video before when folks ask about the Mercalli 5.

Wait, you what!??

I've often looked at these and thought they looked like cool solid basses. This video actually solidified the tonal aspects of it. Purple is cool, although I did like the orange ones a bit better.

I need to see it and try it when you get it!

@op

I love Reverend basses. The only one I own is a dub king, but if money wasn't a factor I would want one of almost every model. The mercalli and fish are both super solid.

While each pick up solo'd sounds good, I think they really shine best with both pick ups blended. It's a tone unique to Reverend.

check out this video of one of my friends bands, The Holophonics... the bass was recorded with a Mercalli and you can hear the tone really well!
