Been looking at the Ibanez SR500 , SR500PB and the Yamaha 504. An ESP D4 used bass just came up that is in mint condition. I know absolutely nothing about ESP as a guitar manufacture as far as quality and sound. If anyone has any experience with them, please feel free to share. Not sure if I like the two tone wood stain running right through the body. How do you think this compares to the SR500 or the Yamaha 504

I agree that Yamaha makes great basses, I owned one myself many years ago and I liked it very much.

Having said that, I own a couple ESP LTD basses, and I can't begin to tell you how much I love them, I've become a die hard ESP fan and I'll probably always own one for the rest of my life.

They're extremely underrated, and for some reason they get marketed as "Metal" basses but they can do it all believe me and they're built like tanks.

If you get the opportunity to play one, please do, you'll see what I mean.

Good luck with whatever you decide......
