Hey, ladies and gents of TalkBass. I searched and didn't find a thread like this, so I thought I'd post here. I'm pretty new on TB, and I thought it might be interesting to share some sound clips so that people could offer suggestions/comments on tone, playing, and recording techniques.
I took a long break from music and now I'm diving back in in my 40s. I picked up a bass in October and starting working on finger style playing for the first time, so I have a long way to go with dynamics and timing.
This signal chain is a Nash PB-63 -> Cali76 CB -> Two Notes Cab M+ (set with an Ampeg B15 cab, pre and power amp sims active) -> Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 -> Logic. I'm using an EZ drummer 3 midi loop and no plugins on the bass. I did run a drum bus preset on the drums using a Waves Scheps Omni Channel Plugin.
I've got 4 bars of a clean tone and then 4 bars with a mythos chupacabra added for light dirt. This repeats for a total of 16 bars, and the drums cut out briefly to allow the tone to be heard solo.
I'm all about some comments and suggestions for tweaking these tones and what to work on with my playing and recording methods for better results. I've got some other preamp pedals on the way and plan to get a tube DI to start going down the analog rabbit hole.
I'd love to see other folks post up their signal chain and settings with sound clips of their own! I thought this might be a cool way for people to get to hear sounds from people with different gear, request clips with different settings, etc.
