Thread for people with join dates 2002 and older

the cool thing about this thread is seeing all the people who were here in the beginning, when it was small and we all knew each other, the days when a troll would be Fuquaed so fast your head would spin. Loved it!

+1.

I especially enjoyed the names that Ed would come up with for said trolls.

Hey kids,

This topic is only for people who joined before 2002. We'll talk about the good ol' days before all these kids and their damn tabs and Korn music.

Has Clan Tabevil still been a vigilantly getting all curmudgeony on the youth of today?

ohaithar! :hyper:

The mods were just regular folks, and had yet to go mad, drunk with power.

you sorta had to be a little mad to volunteer to be a mod back then - when we started we didn't have any mods, and we didn't have any rules. we didn't need them. folks who ended up being mods had to roll their own rules on the fly, which was really hard. we were all leery about making -any- rules, and we continuously would debate if we wanted them, even after they were instantiated.

TB before 2002? Phssst, if you haven't been a member of alt.guitar.bass and argued with Peter Duncan about the merits of composite necks, you are a noooooob. :D

i banned peter duncan.

I've always wondered why paul (TB founder paul, user #1) has a later joining date than lots of other members :p

tb started on another forum software platform. that's where a lot of us (jimk, me, bruce lindfield, pkr2(miss him:( ) , joris (remember him?), lump) and a bunch of other folks first started. iirc, when the switch happened, some folks lingered on the old software or just dragged their feet in joining. i think paul hosted it on his own computer so he didn't need an official account (he never participated much).

Sorry, just snapped out of my midday nap...where are all the '90s TBers?

BTW, it oughta be 1998...then lump crashed the Server, became *lump*, & the rest is history.

i remember that - that was around when we switched.

Yes to PB.

Mike Money liked to see how far he could go swatting the hornet's nest before he got stung. I actually found him to be very humorous and kind of miss him.

i miss him too. i don't think he's gone that far though :D

I've managed to neither be sneaky nor creative and managed to squeeze things past The Man of the Puffy Shirts.

:hiding:

You do realize he never actually plays any of those 7 strings, right?

Stopping by to say hi. I feel like a bit of a fraud since I was MIA for so long. What do you say we all go pick on some 2013'ers? haha

I last logged in way back in 2006, my weird memory retained my ancient password and I was able to change my email address on file to one that actually exists today.

I also lived at home when I joined, now I have two kids, a house and responsibility.... I want 2001 back!!!!
