Three bassists over for dinner

whichever ones have the parts to fix my damned oven so i can cook them something... been waiting over a month for GE to get parts to fix a 4-year old oven.

honestly i wouldn't want to have people i've never met over for dinner just because I like their bass playing. that would be awkward AF for me.

You could just have a pizza delivered. That way, you could have a drummer as well.

I've had dinner with Dave LaRue, and that was a very good time. Other bassists might be fun to hang with as well, don't know, but I'd like to make sure they don't eat like slobs and spit food on me the whole time first

I'm a retired English teacher, and I'd have a much harder time picking three bass players than I would picking three authors. Gave it a little thought, sorry, can't do it.

Now, if I could throw that dinner party weekly or monthly with three different bass players, I might have a chance.

Interesting. The first two are clear bass virtuosos. Clayton is not a virtuoso but he has undeniably great feel and he is essential to U2’s sound. It would probably be a lively conversation.

I would choose Oteil Burbridge, Bobby Vega and Christian McBride. I have always been drawn to bassists that look like they are having a great time playing. Smiling, grooving, just digging the music. And these guys are different enough to have some really interesting conversations.

I had a real hard time leaving Marcus Miller out but couldn’t drop any of the three.
