Thumb rest, Darkstar content

Anyone had experience with this eBay seller? (I'm not associated.) I've had to lower my Darkstars in order to reduce the "harmonic fulcrum" which especially in the recently-installed series mode was making this warbly chorus sound.

Because I've taken the black plastic mounting rings from under the chrome frame to which the pickups are epoxied, there's a small gap where the original Guild humbuckers were installed (larger routing than what the Darkstars require), and along that space is this slim edge of the chrome housing. Not too comfy, as you'd imagine, and I'm trying to find a super slim pickup ring/thumb rest I could put there.

The seller (Jeanie's Pickguards, it seems) doesn't cut metal, which I suggested as a possible alternative to the ABS plastic, perhaps aluminum, plus I don't know how tough ABS is and if it'd stand up to on stage abuse for years to come.

My other thought was to fit a wooden rest onto the open edge of the chrome housing, but I'm no woodworker.

Anyone done something similar?

Not sure exactly what you're after, but I imagine what Jeannie is offering is basically a trim ring made of thin pickguard stock?

In any case, ABS is plenty tough for stage use (it begs the question, what exactly do you do to your bass on stage?)

The harp covers for Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos are ABS, as are most household sewer pipes in the US. So I imagine it will do fine on a bass guitar.

Most pickup covers are also ABS.

Well, then it will suffice for beheading zombies! (I had no idea what ABS was, thus the question. They are ordered and en route.)

I had one for awhile on my DS-equipped Jazz and found it a bit flimsy (the thumbrest part would bend under pressure) and the thumb portion a bit tall for my uses. A cool idea though, and probably would work much better in a Starfire or other bass with a larger gap between the pickup and the strings.

I would love to get one with a rosewood rest.. oh well, they're in the mail.
