+1 I use DR BB's on all of my Thunderbirds. Very warm and woody sounding, without being too dull and thumpy like a set of flats. Perfect combination with the mahogany IMO.

Although, if I had a cherry bird - I'd proabbly roack a set of DR Red Devils. Same coating as the BB's - just red.

Thanks man.....will look and see if I can locate.
Kinda was thinking about the black ones due to the pups and hardware being all black and black chrome.

Yea kinda feeling the black I think...will see about getting some ...Might order up a set for my all black musicman Stealth stingray 4HH too...that thing looks like it should have been an offspring of two stealth bombers....super baaaaas azzz bass. :bassist:

You might want to consider just starting off with one of the new white Epi birds. They have the same chrome hardware as the Silverburst, and you'd avoid the cost and hassel of a refin. Just swap the pickguard, pups, tuners, and TRC and you're good to go. And even though Lull pups are great (I put a Lull in my Epi) you might want to consider a set of Thunderbuckers if cost is a concern.

Yes, JUST got her from Jeff, the fellow who makes fivers out of 4 string Pbass necks..

I wanted a narrow, narrow neck with a low B, this one is 1 5/8" at the nut w an audere,
gonna probably refin her and add some Lull pu's, Gonna try passive & active both, see which compliment the pu's best.
it's a thin oil finish, should be ez to refin.

I saved so much on the purchase, I can upgrade her without worrying about the bills..Going top shelf on the modz!

My refins were done through Mike Lull, pretty spendy, I'm thinking of sending my beat up black '77 off to Marty Bell sometime in 2012.......The bass you're looking at may also be the one that belongs to electrocoyote, it's back on page 1 of the thread - it was done by Marty Bell, who gets well deserved rave reviews for timeliness and quality.
If you take a look on Mike Lull's website there is at least one Thunderbird that he's done with all black hardware too.

Thx, that owuld be a time saver hahaha. But i'm thinking of adding red stripes(thick and thin) to the white and a clear guard with the &9 bird logo on it. Thanks for the pup suggestion too that helps a lot in my decision.

Is it bolt on neck like all epiphones? or is it set like the elitist?

Hey hey-my Bachbird arrived today-safe n sound! Gonna give it a blast at rehearsal tomorrow. It feels pretty cool. Rob deserves all the props he gets-he did a great job of getting it to me and the. Ass is really nice. Can't wait to screw around with customizing it a little! Here's a quick pic of the Cilia custom D bird and the new B bird...
